A codex on vellum containing a number of treatises by Aurelius Ambrosius (Saint Ambrose, the archbishop of Milan) is preserved at the F. P. Maksymenko department of manuscript, early printed and rare books under accession No. 1535 III. Saint Ambrose's theological works on interpretation of the Holy Scripture and doctrinal theology became popular in religious circles very quickly, and therefore were transcribed in scriptoria and beyond in late Middle Ages, and later, after the invention of book printing, reproduced typographically. Until recently, it was believed that the codex was created in the 12th c. Detailed analysis of codicological and paleographic features allows for reconsideration and specification of the chronological framework, as well as its more precise localization. Codicology.
